Dream God Oneiros is one of the best defensive SS tank characters in the game. He has a skill that can block an opponent’s attack and control the pace of the game; combined with his very high defense and survivability, he can limit the damage dealt to his team by the opposing team to a minimum.
Oneiros has an offensive skill that marks an enemy and transports them to the “Dreamscape.” In this state, the enemy can only deal damage to Oneiros himself. As part of his skill set, he has a passive ability that automatically activates this effect when he takes any type of damage (passive) or when he marks an enemy with his skill. He can have two marked enemies on the battlefield at once, which can nullify the entire offensive potential of many lineups.
In addition, he has survival abilities, such as self-healing and increasing his HP. He is a full-fledged tank—one of the best tanks in the game. Furthermore, when all his Soul Points (4) are activated, his offensive capabilities are also enhanced, allowing him to unleash a very powerful attack against enemies (under ideal conditions, this usually deals massive damage).
The key thing about Oneiros is that no other unit in the game nullifies damage the way he does, making him extremely valuable against certain lineups. This is because he works very well when the enemy lineup has only one or two DPS units. However, these types of lineups usually come in a combo, and Oneiros, despite everything, is not an anti-combo unit.
And that’s where some of his problems begin—because he does have them. He’s effective against units like Thanatos, Asgard, etc.—DPS units that deal damage out of turn—thanks to his AoE-based auto-attack. However, characters like Sasha or Ophiuchus Odysseus can “trigger” that auto-attack and somewhat negate Oneiros’s potential. Then there’s the issue of crowd control: Oneiros has no defense against crowd control. If the opponent ultimately fields a Late Damage and crowd control lineup, Oneiros will suffer greatly, since the damage mark only lasts for two action rounds.
But even with all that, it’s one of the best damage control and tank units in the game. It’s fallen a bit behind in terms of damage, but its ability to neutralize opponents is still very much relevant. Is it worth building right now? There are more relevant units, but it’s still a solid choice, and as I mentioned before: no other unit has its ability, which makes him unique.
