Capricorn Cid arrived in the game some time ago and has always been considered a solid DPS. He is one of the few units that deals true AOE damage. He hits very hard and has shields that help him survive. However, he had to gain stacks in order to reach his full potential, and this could only be achieved by attacking with his basic attack or taking damage.
With his Awakened Cloth, it is easier to gain stacks. Now we get another one when an ally uses a turn (this forces us to change cosmos, no longer building with speed in mind), and with 8 stacks you can apply purify to yourself, freeing yourself from control. He gains new damage buffs, but his mechanics remain similar. This gives us a Cid who hits better and faster. And that includes an anti-control mechanic (not all of them).
He will certainly have a place, but it seems that the improvements are not that great and it will be difficult for him to enter the top meta.
