After his Repair Cloth, Taurus Hasgard has become one of the best DPS Tank in game. The Repair Cloth transforms him from a largely forgotten tank into a durable defensive unit with significant damage potential. His kit still revolves around his Max HP, but the rebirth greatly improves both his protection and offensive scaling.
His biggest upgrade is Defense of Yado, which now grants Hasgard a 50% Max HP shield and allows him to absorb up to 50% of the damage taken by allies in the first round. From subsequent rounds onward, he continues receiving a 50% shield while also granting shields to his allies. This makes him exceptionally effective in long fights, especially alongside other defensive units.
The new Determination mechanic is what gives Hasgard his unexpected damage potential. As the battle progresses, he accumulates a substantial damage bonus while his automatic Titan Burst attacks become increasingly threatening. His ability to deal damage based on his Max HP means that building him with high HP and Physical Defense Penetration allows him to function as both a tank and secondary damage dealer.
His new Unbreakable effect is another major improvement, allowing him to survive a lethal hit once per battle, cleanse debuffs, gain another 50% shield, and reflect 80% of the triggering damage. However, there appear to be some questionable interactions with certain abilities, such as Yoma’s Rewind, so this mechanic may not always behave as expected.
Now, all these improvements are thanks to the Repair Cloth. But if you’re a new player and you got Taurus Hasgard but don’t have the Repair Cloth, he’s an interesting unit, but there are better ones out there. He’s one of those characters where you need the Repair Cloth to start investing your Skill Books in him; with the Repair Cloth, he becomes the best defensive tank with tremendous damage potential.
