Goddess Athena
Profile Update

Goddess Athena is one of the main characters in Saint Seiya and the game Saint Seiya Awakening. Although the unit was released several years ago, she remains viable and very useful in the game today, proving that investing in SS-type Support units is usually a safe bet, even as time goes by.

Using Goddess Athena is very simple: she starts the battle, and you must activate her skill, which—after her Awakened Cloth—grants speed to the entire team and always provides two energy points. Next, you must target an ally or an enemy. If you target an ally, you’ll gain up to three energy points whenever they’re attacked; if you target an enemy, you’ll assist with basic attacks whenever they take damage.

Her other great ability is the power to execute opponents—that is, once the enemy’s HP drops below a certain percentage, you can attack and instantly destroy them. It’s a very powerful and decisive ability. You need to meet certain conditions, of course, but she’s one of the few characters with this ability (along with Alone LC and Divine Cloth Sagittarius). Additionally, every time Athena dies, she’ll remain on the field for two more rounds as a ghost, retaining all her abilities.

Athena is excellent; she’s a very versatile unit that’s very easy to position. It’s true that over the years she’s lost some ground because the current meta doesn’t rely as heavily on energy; even with units like Asmita or Grand Pope Sage that control the opponent’s energy usage limit, Athena has lost some ground. But since she’s in the Pool, the game offers plenty of events to help you build her up, and her Awakened Clothe is available in the store, so she’s a good unit to build up little by little.

It remains to be seen whether the new War Goddess Sasha —who is the new Athena—will reignite interest in the classic Athena. Even though they aren’t the same, comparisons are bound to be made. Did you get Athena and aren’t sure whether to build her? She’s a good unit, but as of now, she isn’t the top priority for investment.

+ Pros

  • Easy to use in almost any lineup.
  • Best energy generator in the game.
  • Can destroy an enemy even if it has tons of HP.
  • Can speed up all allie lineup.

Cons

  • Needs high speed cosmos, to be the first to move.
  • A little expensive to unlock all her kit.
  • It is not a meta of high energy consumption.

Skill Descriptions

Skill 1

Holy Light

Lv1Lv2Lv3Lv4Lv5

Athena deals 110% C.DMG to an enemy. While Land of Love and Peace is active, the skill becomes Holy Light II. [Holy Light II] Athena deals 110% C.DMG to an enemy and casts Holy Light II on allies (including summons). When the ally that received the holy light is attacked, allies have a 60% chance to gain 1 energy. The light disappears after Land of Love and Peace fades. The effect of Holy Light II is invisible to enemies before the recipient takes the attack. Each Holy Light grants up to 2 energy. Up to 2 Holy Lights may be active at any given time

Skill 2

Scepter of Victory

Lv1Lv2Lv3Lv4Lv5

Athena focuses the Cosmo of her teammates to her scepter, dealing 500% C.DMG to the enemy. While Land of Love and Peace is active, enemies that are below 15% HP die immediately. Judgment ignores Grace, revival, transformation, damage split and damage transfer effects. Immunity is effective, however.

Skill 3

Solar Blessing

Lv1Lv2Lv3Lv4Lv5

Athena creates a Land of Love and Peace for 4 rounds. When it begins/ends, you recover 2 energy. While the skill is active, whenever allied units spend 4 energy, the Scepter of Victory's energy cost will be permanently reduced by 1 (to a minimum of 3). If there is remaining energy at the end of the round, each energy will increase Athena's final damage by 1% (lasts 1 round). Land of Love and Peace also has a 60% chance to grant 1 extra move (the skill cooldown is 3 turns). Once enabled, all allies gain 10 SPD for 3 turns.

Skill 4

Goddess of War - Awakened

Lv1Lv2Lv3Lv4Lv5

When Athena takes fatal damage, her undying battle will have a 60% chance to transform her into Goddess of War to continue fighting for 2 more rounds. In the Goddess of War form, her skills deal 5% more damage, and she can immediately gain 2 energy and 1 extra action when she kills an enemy Saint (up to 1 action per round). The Goddess of War cannot die and is immune from all control effects. Awakening this skill will also provide the other 3 skills with bonus effects. When attacking with Holy Light, Athena places a stack of Holy Mark (lasts 2 rounds, stackable). When she attacks marked targets, she deals an additional 120% C.DMG with a 20% chance to gain 1 energy. Athena immediately deals 120% DMG to all enemies when she enables and disables Land of Love and Peace. (This damage will not trigger Cosmo effects) Scepter of Victory reduces target's max HP by a further 5%. (This effect cannot stack)
