Gen Narumi (Sky-Piercing Bolt) arrives in Kaiju No. 8 The Game as one of the most versatile and well-rounded Defender units released so far. While he is not considered a mandatory summon for every account, his combination of survivability, team support, and respectable damage output makes him a valuable addition to a wide range of team compositions.

Unlike traditional tanks that focus purely on protection, Gen scales primarily with HP, allowing him to convert his durability into offensive power. His Combat Skill grants the Prestige state, providing shields to the entire team, reducing incoming damage for allies, and increasing their Critical Damage. This immediately boosts both team survivability and overall damage potential, making him a reliable frontline support.

His kit becomes even more impressive through the SASS Stack mechanic. By using his Enhanced Normal Attack and Ultimate, Gen builds stacks that eventually grant him guaranteed evasion for a turn while significantly boosting Additional Damage effects. At the same time, he increases the Critical Rate of Additional Damage for all allies, making him an excellent partner for units that rely on bonus damage effects.

Offensively, Gen performs far better than most defenders. His Ultimate deals AoE Slash and Lightning damage, followed by a powerful Additional Damage hit against the primary target. Combined with frequent Enhanced Normal Attacks, he contributes meaningful damage while maintaining his defensive role.

His signature weapon pushes his performance even further by providing a massive HP boost, team-wide healing after Ultimate usage, and additional offensive buffs. For many players, the weapon is nearly as important as the character itself.

Overall, Gen Narumi (Sky-Piercing Bolt) is an exceptional Defender who brings protection, utility, and damage into a single package. He may not be a must-pull for every roster, but he is undoubtedly one of the strongest support-oriented defenders currently available.
