When the Ryumon Turns Red
Ikkaku Madarame in Bleach Soul Resonance is one of the best budget-friendly DPS options available. His combination of sustained damage, fast attack speed, and strong synergy with Wound-based teams makes him surprisingly effective in both early and mid-game content.
What immediately stands out about Ikkaku is his Bankai-focused gameplay. Once activated, his combat style transforms completely, turning him into a relentless close-range attacker that overwhelms enemies through rapid basic attacks and constant pressure. His signature weapon dramatically enhances this playstyle by instantly filling his Spiritual Pressure when entering Bankai while also massively boosting attack speed and special attack damage. The result is a character that feels incredibly aggressive and satisfying to play.
Unlike burst-focused SSR units that rely heavily on ultimate damage, Ikkaku shines through sustained DPS. His basic attacks become the centerpiece of his kit, especially once upgraded properly. He also applies Wound effects, allowing him to synergize extremely well with characters like Kaname Tōsen. Together, they create a powerful damage-over-time composition capable of constantly pressuring enemies while stacking bonus damage effects.
Another major advantage is accessibility. Even at low investment and without dupes, Ikkaku performs remarkably well. Dupes improve his output, especially at A2, but they are not mandatory for him to feel strong.
That said, he is not perfect. Ikkaku depends heavily on staying in Bankai mode for maximum effectiveness, and his best performance requires proper team synergy and good attack-focused gear. He also lacks the explosive raw power of top-tier SSR units.
