Aoi Kaguragi [The Promising Rising Star] is an Wind-element Shot Attacker who is good in prolonged encounters through scaling buffs and steady damage-over-time pressure. While he may not deliver explosive burst damage early in a fight, Aoi becomes increasingly powerful the longer the battle lasts, making him an interesting option for endurance-focused content.
His Combat Skill allows him to inflict Windbite, applying continuous damage that triggers each time a Kaiju’s turn passes. This steady chip damage adds up over time, especially in drawn-out fights, and helps maintain pressure even when he is not actively attacking.
Aoi’s defining mechanic revolves around Resistance Break synergy. Each time he breaks an enemy’s Resistance, he gains a permanent ATK and DEF buff, stacking up to five times. When fully stacked, these buffs increase both his offensive output and durability. Because of this, he performs best in teams that can consistently enable Resistance Breaks or in content where enemies frequently recover and re-enter breakable states.
Aoi’s Violent Wind Blast applies Windbite, a Wind-element DoT that chips away at enemies each turn. His passive Unparalleled Training allows him to gain permanent ATK and DEF stacks each time he destroys a PLT (enemy part), making him progressively stronger as battles continue. This “late-bloomer” design means he needs time to reach his full potential, which can be a disadvantage in fast-paced content.
His best use case is in stages with multiple breakable enemy parts or waves of enemies, where he can steadily accumulate stacks and snowball into a formidable force.
