It’s official: Vollstandig Uryu is the next character coming to Bleach: Soul Resonance, and he’s confirmed to release on September 2 — on time, three weeks after Bambietta. The confirmation has finally arrived via the Chinese Dev Account in the TapTap forum, along with a first look at the content coming with him.
For those who missed it, Bambietta Basterbine already introduced the Finesse typing when she launched in August — the long-rumored fifth type alongside Thrust, Slash, Strike and Spirit. Now Vollstandig Uryu joins her as the first Finesse Tactic unit, and Candice Catnipp should be released as Finesse Support. That gives the Finesse roster a full setup: an Assault (Bambietta), a Tactic (Uryu) and, once she arrives, a Support (Candice). This news is much-needed for the game, which has been experiencing a dry spell following the delay of the last SSR. Let’s hope this one arrives without a hitch.
Completing the Finesse Team
With Uryu on the way, the best Finesse setup for now looks like Bambietta + Uryu + Kisuke, with Candice taking over the support slot when she releases. The trade-off: to make the most of any of these characters you’ll want all of them, since they’re designed to work as one team. The good news is that collecting the whole collaboration roster is very doable as free-to-play with this game’s rates and currency income.
Release Dates
| Character | Role | Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Bambietta Basterbine | Finesse · Assault | Available now |
| Vollstandig Uryu | Finesse · Tactic | September 2 |
| Candice Catnipp | Finesse · Support* | September 16 |
This keeps the Thousand-Year Blood War collaboration lineup on track: Ichigo Kurosaki — Dual Zangetsu (July 15), Bambietta Basterbine (August 11), and now Uryu and Candice to close it out. (The information about Candice has yet to be confirmed)
New Content: Yhwach Boss Fight
After Bambietta’s patch was criticized for being light on content, Uryu’s update is already looking more promising. Alongside his release, the game is teasing a Yhwach boss fight — you’ll be able to fight the Quincy leader in-game, which is a nice touch even if he isn’t a playable character. There’s also talk of Mystic Frontline (pushed back from the previous patch) arriving with a Thousand-Year Blood War skin, though that remains unconfirmed for now.
About Vollstandig Uryu
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Uryu Ishida is the last surviving Quincy and a key figure in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, where he takes on the mantle of successor to Yhwach. His Vollständig — the Quincy equivalent of a Bankai — is a dramatic power-up that makes him one of the strongest characters in the arc.
Note that this is a new unit, different from the base Uryu Ishida already in the game since March. This is the Thousand-Year Blood War version of the character.
We don’t have his full kit yet — knowing Bleach Soul Resonance, the skill details will probably drop just a day or two before his release, as usual. We’ll update this post (and his character page) as soon as the details are published.
