Perseus Algol is an A-rank control unit that relies on petrify pressure through multi-hit attacks and retaliation mechanics. He is generally an off-meta option in current PvP, but he can still be useful for beginner accounts that want a simple crowd-control threat without high setup requirements.
His main active tool is Medusa Punch, which launches three random hits with individual petrify chances, giving him repeated opportunities to disable targets even if each single proc rate is low. His basic attack is only a filler damage option, so most turns are judged by whether Medusa Punch creates control momentum. Medusa’s Curse adds situational defensive utility by petrifying enemies that hit him too hard in one strike, it’s a fun skill, but very limited.
Algol is a niche control pick for budget and early progression teams, capable of occasional high-impact turns when petrify procs align. In optimized PvP environments he is usually replaced by stronger controllers with more reliable disable rates and better team utility, so his value is mostly in beginner rosters and collection play.
