We have a new Digimon game—it’s called Digimon Up —which is a sort of idle RPG combined with a gacha system for obtaining characters. It’s been a while since we’ve had a decent Digimon game, and it looks like we’ll have to keep waiting a little longer because this game is, on the one hand, pretty casual, and its gameplay is very limited. It reminds me of automated systems—back in the day, it would have been like Tamagotchi games.
Anyway, it’s based on Digimon! an anime that’s very famous worldwide, especially—perhaps—in Latin America, just like Saint Seiya. It’s been around for many years, though to date it hasn’t had a truly good and successful game outside of China.
Players can now download the game on iOS App Store and Android Google Play Store, with Japan leading the rollout and international servers expected to be live on July 15-16. Digimon UP! emphasizes the classic raising mechanics that defined the franchise in the late 1990s, allowing players to train, feed, and evolve their Digimon based on care and performance.
Unlike previous titles such as Digimon ReArise or Digimon Links, which leaned heavily into gacha systems, this new entry prioritizes bonding and growth, echoing the Tamagotchi-style origins of the series. I hope. Because right now we have the error code 19001.
