Leo Ilias enters Saint Seiya Awakening bringing a straightforward yet deadly playstyle centered around single-target burst damage. Designed as a pure physical attacker, Ilias is very good at eliminating key enemies quickly, often from the very first round, without requiring any prior setup or charge mechanics.
What makes Ilias stand out is his ability to deliver immediate impact. For just one energy cost, he can unleash a multi-hit attack capable of one-shotting fragile or unprepared targets. Unlike many modern units that rely on stacking buffs or waiting for conditions to activate, Ilias operates at full efficiency right from the start.
A core part of his kit revolves around Arques, his wolf companion, which dynamically shifts between two states. When Arques remains in the backline, Ilias gains significant offensive boosts, particularly to his critical rate, allowing him to consistently land high-damage hits. When Arques moves to the frontline—usually after Ilias loses a portion of his HP—he gains survivability through lifesteal, dodge chance, and damage mitigation that converts into healing.
Ilias also applies stacking debuffs known as Wolf Marks, which reduce enemy defenses and amplify his overall damage output. Once fully stacked, these marks evolve into a “Prey” state that further increases the damage enemies take and allows Ilias to counterattack when struck. Combined with his ability to trigger passive attacks under certain conditions, including while under control effects, Ilias maintains offensive pressure even outside of his active turns.
Despite his strengths, Ilias struggles to keep up with the current meta. He lacks many of the tools that define top-tier units, such as anti-revive mechanics, reliable protection, or immunity to control. His damage, while strong, can be mitigated by shields, cleanses, or revive-heavy compositions. Additionally, the dominance of AoE and auto-play strategies makes single-target nukers like Ilias less consistent in competitive environments.
Overall, Leo Ilias is an outstanding single-target damage dealer with explosive potential and a satisfying, hands-on playstyle. However, his effectiveness heavily depends on team support and matchup conditions. He is best suited for players who enjoy likes aggressive strategies, and of course, to all Leo Saints fans.
